Semolina Halva - One of my favourite desserts growing up and one I only just started making. Mainly because it has always been considered too dangerous for me to do, according to yiayia. I’m glad she’s finally given me the green light 🥰.

Add all syrup ingredients to a pot over medium heat and allow it to come to the boil. Let it simmer for 5-10 mins then strain out the cinnamon stick and cloves.

In another deep pot, over medium high heat, add the oil. When it’s hot add the semolina. Keep stirring frequently to toast semolina otherwise it can burn very easily. Once the semolina has turned golden turn the heat off. Slowly and carefully pour in the syrup and stir quickly and carefully to combine. At this point it will sizzle and spatter out of the pot. Be very careful.

The semolina will absorb the syrup almost instantly, ensure everything well combined. And once it’s thickened to a consistency that you can scoop generously place it in a tin that’s been well greased tin. If you wish to add a chocolate layer, spoon three tablespoons of cocoa powder into half of the halva mixture whilst in the pot and stir it through vigorously.

Press it down firmly so it will mould itself to the pattern of the tin. Allow it to cool in the pan and then flip it out. Dust with cinnamon and enjoy!! ❤️.

I thought I’d get on the band wagon with this one and share a little about myself. I am quite a private person but would like my Insta fam to know a little about me.

2. My little business began after I baked and decorated my husband his birthday cake and that sparked a lot of interest.

3. The food network is the only channel that is on when I’m home.

4. I have been obsessed with art since I was a child and my parents really encouraged this interest as a child.

5. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Education and Honours in Fine Arts.

6. I am a ceramic artist and have had and been apart of successful exhibitions selling and showcasing my work. I dream of getting back into it one day.

7. I would love to have my own cooking show!

8. I have strong interest in Symbology, Mythology and Archaeology. You’ll never need a tour guide if I’m around.

9. I have a weird obsession with anything that is coconut, edible or not.

10. I am of Greek heritage, although my maiden name is German. Dad’s from Kalamata and mum’s from Crete. Elder sis and I were born here in Sydney.

11. Majority of Disney movies, I never watched in English until recently. They were all in Greek, which I enjoy far more.

12. To me, the most important room in the house is the kitchen.

13. My favourite animals are Koalas, all bears, tigers and lions. Meow.

14. If I could live in Greece, I would. I don’t care what anyone’s opinion is.

16. I prefer seafood over meat. But I still eat meat. Prawns and crabs are my fav!

17. My mother and I have been victims in a bank robbery. Not fun.

18. Master Chef approached me last year and asked me to consider auditioning for 2018.

19. My ultimate dream... I don’t think I have one. What ever comes my way that makes me happy is fine by me.

20. Most amazing experience of my life was visiting Hagia Sofia in Istanbul, Constantinople. Aaaand of course marrying my best friend ❤️
