People ask me what "it" was that finally brought me to my knees and I tell them I just got sick and tired of being sick and tired....We all have our limits of what is acceptable in our lives. Since getting back from my trip a lot has been going on. This past 2 weeks I have been busier than I have ever been. I have put myself out there and said YES to just about anything and everything that comes my way. I have taken risks and asked for things I didn't necessarily think I'd get but the universe has my back you see. I am trusting in the universe every step of this journey.

I knew that leaving my job to embark on a new path wasn't going to be easy but it was something I felt in the tips of my toes that it was the right move. I have SO much to learn that sometimes it's a bit overwhelming. But just like everything I have done since getting sober I'll do it one day at a time. Give myself the space to freak out if I need to knowing it's only temporary. Just a moment in time. I am so grateful for this life I am creating from the ground up. Grateful for all the people who are helping me on this journey. It's just beginning.... Off to yoga🙏🏼

We tried to pick this year but we’re about a week too late👩🏼‍🌾 Last night @____christym____ asked what was our favourite part of this week and for almost all of us it was sitting around the table eating the food we prepared from the bounty we acquired. Breaking bread with your nearest and dearest truly fills the soul and creates long lasting memories. TIME is key💙 .

A little older, a little wiser, a whole lot happier. This past year has been a doozy and it ain't over yet. How much can change in a year? How about everything.... life is messy, beautiful and certainly unexpected. It can change in an instant or over many years. How you respond to the change is what matters. Show up, be present and love. Just love🌻--

It’s ok to be not ok for the millionth time in your life. To all of a sudden feel like the earth could crumble and you could be swallowed whole and you would be aok with that. It’s ok to be weary, sleepy, grumpy and weepy in the same breath. To not want to do your job. To give it all up. To escape, to run and never come back. It’s ok to feel this much cause this too shall pass. It has before and it shall again. The kaleidoscope that is this recover, heal, learn, fall 2steps back is what is Called life. I stand in my query of what is justified and what is indulgent and realize that it’s all ok. I am and will be perfectly ok. I will have days as you and I do, and when I do it’s the remembering of just how fucking lucky I am to be here breathing, moving, sharing and FEELING all of it. I am one of the lucky ones to have made it to this side but this side is still made up of all the perfectly imperfect human stuff. Where sometimes I need to have space held, and be given the permission to have a bad day. I’m ok, we are ok. And one sober day at a time I will continue to rise🖤

There are days where the words don’t flow. The moments where time seems to stand still. The days where everyone I come across seems to have an edge, a sharpness. The days where i feel small, tired, uninspired. I watch as my character defects take over and start to revel in the self doubt, the spiral. The nobody loves me, I’m not good enough, I’m too old. The rhetoric that used to play on repeat in my mind. And then the day comes to an end and I start to write and listen.  I remember who I am what I am not. I release, I pray, I ask for help. I am remembering to remember that I am love from top to bottom and this too shall pass. I remember to be gentle, to be kind. I remember that it’s ok to feel my feels. A fresh new day, ripe with opportunity. I pray for clarity, connection and ask that thine will not mine be done. Just in case you feel this way too. I love you🙏🏼pic>

Today I will show up, I will do the work, I will do my best to hear you and see you. Today I will honour my physical body, my emotional body and will ask for help from the god of my understanding. Today is a new opportunity, a clean slate, a CHOICE. Thank you for the gift of this day. Thank you my abilities, my strengths and my shortcomings. Today I will try to be better than I was yesterday. Not for you, but for me. Each day I am granted is a gift and one I do not take lightly. There are days when I can’t get my head out of my own ass to see how fortuitous my journey has unfolded and then there are days like today where I bow in and feel humble. Today, I get it✨🖤

I busted into the latest jar of the parents maple syrup and holy crap it’s unreal. Stay cozy today my friends to the best of your ability and a gentle reminder to be kinder to those who don’t have the comforts that we do. As many of you know, I am sober. It is something that I have to work on every. Single. Day. This January I will be without a drink for 5 whole years. I swear, I blinked and that happened. My story is mine and mine alone but there are millions of us out there. A great deal of us never find our ways to the rooms of AA, treatment centres, therapists offices and the like. A lot of us don't make it and succumb to this deadly dis-ease. One thing my sobriety has taught me is to be kind. My sobriety has taught me to be compassionate. It has humbled the fuck out of me. One never knows what is happening behind the eyes of a stranger, a colleague or sometimes even a family member or a dear friend. Today, I invite you to be a little nicer. Show more empathy than you normally would and notice how this shift affects your day. Let's all have a kick-ass Monday, ok?! ------------

There wasn't much more than 1 day a week I would go without makeup about 4 months ago. I straightened my hair every chance I got. I was at the hair salon once every 4-6 weeks without fail. Here I am with 4 months of root growth and not a speck of makeup on and I have to say I feel great. Liberated if you will. This will most likely not last forever cause well I'm a pretty darn girlie girl but I'm loving the freedom now.  I love every little bit of my self from the wickedly curly hair to the stiff back and terribly cranky hamstring.  I choose love..now and always💙

Somewhere in the middle of it all I land in my skin and take a breath. I give myself the permission to feel all the feels and once I turn the corner, I look this way and that to make sure I haven’t left anything out. Sobriety is a tricky business and 91 months into this here journey I still have to stay focused, diligent and oh so forgiving. Me and my tender heart, mind, soul is still trying to navigate the peaks and valleys. Still trying to corner the whys. Why did it all turn out this way? The years I once ran from are the ones I am now unearthing. Healing takes time and growth can be tortuously gradual. This one day at a time criteria is the gift that is this sober life💛

I had a tough one with my sponsor today. Im in the middle of completing step 4 and 5 and for those that know, KNOW this process know that it can be scary, shitty, raw and absolutely one of the most real and revealing thing you can do in sobriety, and life in general. Yeah, it’s like that. This is not my first rodeo, as in I’ve been through this process twice before but something about doing it again, now, at this stage with all the stuff I’ve got that needs to be cleared, dealt with and maybe hopefully dealt with for the last time. But THIS 👆🏼👆🏼RIGHT HERE is my thing. The god awful paralyzingly fear of not being liked that we are getting to the root of. Holy hell I want to be free of it and stand in my body unapologetically. I am getting there. I am worth it. I am loved. I am human. Today was a hard day but it was a beautiful gorgeous gift and if you are struggling my friend, know you are not alone. I am choosing the fire, entering into all of it. I will not shrink back from what and who I am meant to be. What god has planned for me. I am grateful for the revelations, the sweet unravelling of it all. Getting to the nugget is what is going to help me rise into my most authentic self. Thank you to my teachers, my mirrors, my former and present self. I love you🧡

Everything changed for me when I got sober. It all started very slowly one day at a time if you will. Soon, it wasn't enough for me to just be sober cause as some of you know that's just not good enough. For me, getting HEALTHY became top priority. I started by making yoga a daily practice and with that my diet began to change.  At first I gave up meat, seafood, then cheese and dairy and in the course of this last year I have given up fish. Being vegan isn't something I ever thought I could do or would want to do. I was raised a good Irish catholic who ate roast beef like it was my job every Sunday but it's working for me. I am still learning and will be as long as I'm breathing but I love it. It's a form of self respect for me. Eating well doesn't have to mean being vegan. I'm for whatever works for you. Eating well is also a privilege and one that that shouldn't be taken lightly. Travelling has taught me that. So eat well whatever that means for you. Love and respect yourself enough. I am/we are worth it❤️

I have spent a lot of time in my life comparing myself to others. Whether it was a beautiful girl, someone who had more money, someone who has more stuff, more flexibility, better hair, a more refined practice, longer sobriety, a better share at a meeting..whatever it was..you get the point. I have gotten better over the last 3 years but self doubt and comparisons still plague me on a daily basis but nothing near like it used to. I am exactly where I need to be body mind and spirit. I have a faith now that I never had before that everything is going to work out exactly as it should. I need to trust the process and keep practicing and stop being so damn hard on myself. I am/we are perfect just the way we are❤️

Yup, this is me. First thing in the morning. Grateful AF is how I’m feeling. This is sobriety in a nutshell for me. I went to bed later than I wanted but up with the alarm cause I’ll be damned to let this morning go by. I dreamt about the restaurant again cause, well, just cause I guess. Sam the cat came for his mandatory morning snuggle {the best ever💗}, I’m getting up to meditate, have lemon water, then coffee..☕️I think I’ll make zucchini muffins for breakfast but will munch on my homemade granola with strawberries and blues with a big old fat dollop of almond butter while they bake and then I’ll teach. Yup, this is my sobriety and holy shit it was worth every blackout, every stumble and every fall to get here right now in this very moment. Good morning people💕💕

Today we read about Step 1...Powerless over alcohol and lives being unmanageable. Today I am not powerless over alcohol but I am beyond powerless over many other aspects of my life. My sponsee and I spoke about how getting sober is like being hatched. One little break of our shell at a time. Find joy in these moments. Keep coming back.
